Soroptimist International is a worldwide service organization for women in management and the professions, with more than 3,000 clubs in 124 countries/territories. Soroptimist International is now the world's largest classified service organization for women, with each Club representing a wide range of occupations, talents and interests.

Soroptimists work through service projects to advance human rights and the status of women. They come from a wide diversity of cultures and circumstances. They are, however, dedicated to a unity of ideals and objects:

  • the advancement of the status of women
  • high ethical standards
  • human rights for all
  • equality, development and peace

Who is eligible?

To be eligible to be invited to membership, a woman should be working in a profession or business or other occupation of comparable status or responsibility. Recently retired or women temporarily or permanently out of work from a profession or business, and those embarking on a career are also eligible.

Soroptimist membership offers many benefits and opportunities:

  • Join an international network of friendship
  • Attend meetings of any Club in the world
  • Join women from many different spheres, all using their particular skills to help others
  • Become aware of significant global issues
  • Participate in meetings, workshops and conferences in many parts of the world
  • Visit London and stay at the Soroptimist Residential Club
  • Friendship Grants for Soroptimists (and partners) to visit other countries (see The International Soroptimist for details)
